Keep your lashes merry and bright this season with the definitive winter lash extension care guide.
It keeps getting colder. We are firing up the chimneys and hanging up the mistletoe. We are only a couple of weeks away from Christmas. It's time to have your lash extensions holiday party ready. But before you get your full set here is the winter lash extension care guide to keep your lashes in top shape for all your holiday festivities.
Although winter lash extension care doesn’t vary much from the rest of the year there are a few things to keep in mind during brisk blustery days.
6 Tips For Winter Lash Extension Care
Practice safe steaming. There’s nothing like a hot steamy bath to warm you back up. However, hot tubs saunas, super hot showers, and steam rooms are safe for lashes. Keep in mind, that although these types of baths extreme heat can potentially soften the adhesive on your extensions. Therefore, try not to rub or touch your extension. Keep from brushing them directly after a hot bath to avoid the bonds popping off your lashes. As soon as your lashes cool down they should be safe to brush them back in place.
Avoid toweling. As we continue on the super hot bath train, avoid toweling your lashes after extreme hot baths. Lash extensions may get caught in the fibers and pull/pop your lashes off.
Let adhesive set. If you have just gotten a full set or a refill give your lash adhesive time to set by avoiding extreme heat or hot baths. Another thing to avoid is oil. Keep your eye area free from oils and oil-based moisturizers right after you get a full set or refill.
Remove your makeup daily. It’s so tempting to sleep in your makeup or avoid washing your lash line if you just got a refill or full set. Likewise keeping your lashline free and clear of residue will keep your lash extensions joyful this season. Cold dry air makes our hair as well as lashes weak and brittle. Similarly, make residue also makes lashes weak and brittle causing them to break faster.
Check ingredient labels. As mentioned oil is not your lash extension best friend. But as the weather gets colder we reach a bit more for moisturizers. Watch the labels on your skincare for glycerin, oil, and wax. These ingredients will loosen the adhesives on your lashes, break the bond and create major fall out.
Ramp up your supplements. The holidays are full of parties. Beware of sugar caffeine and increase alcohol consumption as they make hair dry and brittle. Eat whole foods rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E. Other supplements to consider are ashwagandha, stinging nettle, or biotin. These vitamins help with hair growth and strengthening the hair.
Master your winter lash extension care this season.
These 6 tips will help elongate the durability of your lash work. Whether you are an artist or a lash aficionado. Even though the weather outside is frightful, your lashes will be so delightful. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
